WCDC Announces Available Grants For Downtown Businesses
KOSCIUSKO — The Warsaw Community Development Corporation announced the following available grants for downtown businesses.
Downtown Development Week Grant
The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs is adding a small grant opportunity to the week-long celebration in October called Downtown Development Week. This week will be an opportunity for communities across the state to host events to celebrate their downtowns and encourage camaraderie through events and activities. Downtown Development Week, which will from Oct. 8 to 12, will honor Indiana’s cities and towns’ commitment to preserve and invest in downtown, the heart of the community.
Downtown Development Week is an excellent opportunity to showcase all of the positive activities and investments that are happening in an Indiana downtown. To help provide for a planned event or activity, OCRA will be awarding no more than give Downtown Development Week promotion grants of up to $1,000 per event or activity.
“With this grant, we want to help with the funding barrier communities often face when planning a special downtown event or activity,” said Jodi Golden, executive director of OCRA. “These events can help bring together the community and create a great sense of place.”
Golden said the event must take place during Downtown Development Week. This grant can help celebrate a community’s unique downtown heritage as well as support all the businesses and services that are an integral part of a downtown. The deadline to apply is June 29 at 4 p.m. If you would like to apply for this grant and host in event in downtown Warsaw, visit www.in.gov/ocra/2896.htm for more information.
Facade Grant
WCDC administers a face grant program that is funded by the City of Warsaw. Qualified applicants may obtain matching grant funds up to a maximum of $5,000 for facades, storefronts, awnings and signs, depending on the scope of the work.
Over the past eight years more than $173,500 in matching grant funds have been distributed among downtown restaurants and shops. Click here for more information.
