Study Names Fort Wayne As Best City To Retire
FORT WAYNE — The Summit City is the best place to retire rich, according to a new study.
GOBankingRates, a personal finance resource website, looked at where nest eggs will last longer than people plan for. It took into account the cost to buy a house, property taxes, secure health insurance and day-to-day expenses.
The study explains Fort Wayne topped the list because it has the lowest average tax property bill. Fort Wayne is also first in the state where paychecks are stretched the furthest.
Indianapolis made it in at No. 5 on the best list. Over in Ohio, Toledo hit No. 3 and Cleveland at No. 7.
San Francisco topped the worst place to retire rich list. The cost of living in the city is $1.34 million which is more than double the national average.
