Max L. Flenar
Max L. Flenar, 75, Etna Green, passed at 12:33 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester.
He was born on Jan. 28, 1943, in Warsaw, to Seth H. and Mildred E. (Robbins) Flenar.
He married on July 21, 1963, in the Etna Green Church of Christ to Linda J. Long, she survives.
He had been a barber for 28 years serving the Mentone community for 14 years and the Bourbon community for 14 years. He then worked for Zimmer Orthopedics of Warsaw for 12 years, retiring in 1998.
Mr. Flenar was a graduate of Mentone High School in 1961. He graduated from International Barber College of Indianapolis in 1963. He attended the Church of Christ of Etna Green. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and watching high school sports. He was always friendly and didn’t know a
stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Flenar, Etna Green; a daughter, Angie (Craig) Szymanski, West Lafayette; a son, Don (Vicki) Flenar, Peachtree, Ga.; grandchildren: Cade, Reid, Trey, Aleah and Ashley (Ryan); a brother, Kay (Sue) Flenar, Etna Green; a step-sister: Mona Deen (Ryan Floor), Flint, Mich.; a step-brother: Charles (Mary) Carpenter, Etna Green; several nieces and nephews; his sister-in-law, Carol Flenar, Talma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and four brothers.
A time of visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, at King Memorial home in Mentone. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 28. Pastor Jordan Ickes will officiate. Burial will take place at Etna Green Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Etna Green Church of Christ or the Mentone Fire Dept.
