Claypool
Officers with the Claypool Police Department investigated the following accident:
3:12 p.m. Thursday, June 21, SR 13, south of East CR 350S, Pierceton. Drivers: David A. Barefoot, 61, SR 13, North Manchester; and William Perez, 46, Washington Street, Sidney. Barefoot’s vehicle rear-ended Perez’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
8:59 a.m. Friday, June 22, East CR 1250N, north of North CR 1000E, Syracuse. Driver: Chase M. Zurbrick, 19, SR 5, Pierceton. Zurbrick advised he was southbound on CR 1000E when he swerved to avoid striking an animal in the roadway. This resulted in Zurbrick’s vehicle going into a water-filled ditch and striking a pile of rocks, causing undercarriage damage. Damage up to $10,000.
11:36 p.m. Thursday, June 21, West CR 1350N and North CR 950W, Nappanee. Driver: Jeffery A. Roggenbeck, 53, North Ashbury Court, Nappanee. Roggenbeck stated he was traveling east on CR 1350N when a black cow entered the roadway, into the path of his vehicle. Roggenbeck was unable to avoid striking the cow with his vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
5:09 p.m. Monday, June 18, North SR 19, north of West Hepton Road, Nappanee. Drivers: Michelle L. Roberts, 24, Miami Trail, Bremen; and Ernest D. Pletcher, 19, Birch Road, Bourbon. Pletcher was traveling southbound on SR 19. Roberts stated she was northbound on SR 19 and attempting to light a cigarette when her vehicle drifted across the center line, resulting in a collision with Pletcher’s vehicle. Damage up to $25,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
3:37 p.m. Sunday, June 24, US 30, east of Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Leroy E. Konkle, 67, Lake City Highway, Warsaw; and Jack L. Stephen, 57, Nottawa Trail, Fort Wayne. Konkle reported he was making a left turn and did not see Stephen’s vehicle approaching. Konkle’s vehicle pulled into the path of Stephen’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
12:19 p.m. Sunday, June 24, SR 15, south of West CR 350N, Warsaw. Drivers: John E. Miller, 62, Van Buren Street, Leesburg; and Richard P. Gibson, 58, East Natti Crow Road, Syracuse. Miller’s vehicle rear-ended Gibson’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
4:42 p.m. Friday, June 22, US 30, west of North Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Cory A. Zemen, 44, EMS C19 Lane, Warsaw; Allen M. Wilson, 19, Byron Street, Huntington; Elizabeth E. Mikesell, 71, Redstone Court, Columbia City; and Racheal M. Bower, 33, EMS T18 Lane, Leesburg. All four vehicles were traveling east on US 30. Traffic was backed up from the red light at the intersection. Zemen’s vehicle rear-ended Wilson’s vehicle, resulting in Wilson’s vehicle rear-ending Mikesell’s vehicle, which then caused Mikesell’s vehicle to rear-end Bower’s vehicle. Damage up to $25,000.
3:44 p.m. Friday, June 22, East Old Road 30 and Orchard Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Ashish K. Choudhury, 67, Los Pueblos Drive, Camarillo, Calif.; and Mackaylah C. Shearer, 21, East Old Road 30, Pierceton. Choudhury was making a left turn onto Orchard Drive and pulled into the path of Shearer’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
2:39 p.m. Friday, June 22, West Market Street and South Lake Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Teresa J. Locke, 85, East Center Street, Warsaw; and Virginia K. Rivera, 58, Sandra Lane, Winona Lake. The vehicles collided at the intersection. Both drivers claimed to have had a green light. Rivera and her passenger Audrey Fisher, 10, Sandra Lane, Warsaw, were transported to the hospital. Damage up to $10,000.
2:35 p.m. Friday, June 22, East Main Street, Warsaw. Driver: Leslie H. Juarez, 17, St. Mary’s Drive, Warsaw. Juarez stated she was parked in the Warsaw Community Public Library parking lot. She had placed her vehicle in drive when her foot slipped onto the gas pedal, causing her vehicle to accelerate forward, over a curb and into an informational sign in the parking lot. Damage up to $2,500.
2:18 p.m. Friday, June 22, SR 15 and South Indiana Street, Warsaw. Drivers: James K. Zachary, 83, South Woodland Trail, Warsaw; and Arian D. Schneider, 25, West Washington Street, Mentone. Zachary advised he was traveling eastbound on SR 15 approaching the intersection of Indiana street. Zachary stated he was making a left turn and thought he had the right of way as he did not see any vehicles traveling westbound. Zachary’s vehicle pulled into the path of Schneider’s vehicle. Damage up to $25,000.
