Mary Adez McDade Miller
Mary Adez McDade Miller, everyone knew her as Adez, 100 and a half years old, Warsaw, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Grace Village Health Care of Winona Lake.
She was born in Selma, Ala., Oct. 11, 1917, to Thomas Calhoun McDade and Olive Estelle (Dancy) McDade while Tom was working with the L&N Railroad.
Shortly after her birth the family moved back to Crestview, Fla., where she was raised. She later moved to West Palm Beach, Fla. She went to work in Pensacola, Fla. for Walgreens on and off until her retirement in 1980.
She moved to Warsaw to be with her daughter. She loved dancing and she and her sister had a vaudeville act. An avid animal lover she also had a pet baby alligator until it bit her mother on the nose, but always had many other animals. She lived a long life and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She never met a stranger.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Belinda (Mikko) Matero, Warsaw; son: James Miller, Cleveland, N.C.; step-daughter: Susan (Jack) Van Ord, Cantonment, Fla.; and her step-son: James (Peggy) Johnson, Old Town, Fla. and Mountain City, Tenn. Also surviving is a special niece: Meda Mae (Cody) Trent, Crestview, Fla; grandchildren: Carol (Frederick) McGhee, Charles Durell, Lynette Roberts, Gwynn Johnson, Cynthia Pailthorpe, Jamie Rene (David) Storie, Jason Miller; 13 great grandhildren; three great-great grandchildren; six great nieces and nephews; and eight great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Meda (Hubert) Carver, Crestview, Fla.; Carlie (Stanley), West Palm Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 23, at the Brackney Funeral Services Chapel, 480 East James Lee Boulevard, Crestview, Fla. There will be an hour of calling for friends and family to gather from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Old Bethel Cemetery in Crestview, Fla. Local arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
