Claypool Town Council Makes Leak Adjustment Requests, Plans To Update Property Cleaning Ordinance
CLAYPOOL — Business mainly focused on leak adjustment requests and updating ordinances at the Claypool Town Council meeting Tuesday, June 19.
A Claypool resident was granted $11.73 in wastewater credit due to a faucet accidentally being left on for an extended period of time. The resident also inquired about east-west trains in the area traveling at high rates of speed and constantly whistling. The council stated that they will look into these issues.
Joe Nelson was also present at the meeting for a leak adjustment request. He and his brother recently purchased a mobile home park in the city in February. There was a leak at one of the residences that wasn’t immediately reported. The council granted Nelson $201.74 in wastewater credit.
The council reminded citizens that in order to get a wastewater credit for filling a swimming pool, they must follow the town’s swimming pool fill procedure. To qualify for a sprinkling credit, if residents’ water bills from June to August are more than bills from January to March, they will see a sprinkling credit on their bill.
The council also discussed changing an ordinance regarding the amount and time the city spends on cleaning abandoned properties. Currently, city employees are paid $100 per the first hour spent working plus $1 per additional minute. The council has scheduled an administrative meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, to study the ordinance and calculate in time and equipment used by city employees.
For the month of May, officers with the Claypool Police Department responded to 252 calls and 25 ordinance violations. Arrests mainly related to drugs or driving while suspended.
