Cooling Center Available In Warsaw, Heat Advisory Remains In Effect
WARSAW — Due to the extreme heat, a cooling center is available today, June 18, at the Pete Thorn Center gymnasium, 800 N. Park Ave., Warsaw.
A heat advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. tonight. Temperatures will rise to between 90 and 95 this afternoon with heat indexes around 100 for several hours.
The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Temperatures inside a vehicle can be significantly higher than outside, even with windows open. Make sure not to leave children or animals in the vehicle as they can be quickly overcome by the heat.
