Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
10:18 p.m. Thursday, June 14, SR 19, south of West CR 75N, Etna Green. Driver: Greg A. Eads, 42, 9B Road, Bourbon. Eads advised he was traveling north on SR 19 when a skunk or raccoon entered the roadway. Eads attempted to slow down and maneuver his motorcycle around the animal but lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle left the roadway and entered a ditch. Eads was thrown from the motorcycle after colliding with the ditch. Eads, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, suffered abraisions to his head, arms and legs and complained of pain to his legs and head. He was transported to South Bend St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment. Damage up to $5,000.
3:25 p.m. Thursday, June 14, East CR 800S, west of South CR 300E, Claypool. Drivers: Ernest J. Knote, 60, West SR14, South Whitley; and Holly L. Cordill, 33, East Main Street, Liberty Mills. Knote was exiting a private drive in a dump truck. He advised he checked for oncoming vehicles upon approaching CR 800S from the private drive but did not see Cordill’s vehicle traveling west. The vehicles collided when Knote’s vehicle entered the roadway. Damage up to $25,000.
2:37 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, North Pleasant Grove Road, south of East Cornelius Road, Syracuse. Driver: Richard D. Studebaker, 71, East Mowrey Road, Columbia City. Studebaker advised he was backing his vehicle up when his vehicle struck a row of mailboxes. Approximately six or seven mailboxes were damaged. Damage up to $1,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:02 p.m. Thursday, June 14, North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Kathleen M. Harper, 50, Shawnee Drive, Warsaw; and Joyce E. Rodgers, 62, North CR 450E, Leesburg. The vehicles collided as both drivers were backing out of parking spaces. Damage up to $2,500.
