Replats Approved For New Apartment Complex, Hotel
WARSAW — Two replats were approved on both the first and final readings during the Warsaw Plan Commission held last night, June 11.
The first replat was for Tru Hotel by Hilton. The property sits south of Center Crest Subdivision on Prosperity Drive. The owners Sam Patel and Anup Jairam also bought an adjacent small lot of land that is not within city limits. In order to develop all of the land for the future hotel, the two lots need to be replat as one.
Debra Hughes, senior professional engineer of Marbach Brady and Weaver Inc., Elkhart, represented the petitioners at last night’s meeting. She presented visuals to commission members so they could get an idea of the replat. According to Hughes, city utilities, sewer and water already exist on the site.
City Planner Jeremy Skinner recommended approval. Commission members approved both the preliminary and final replat.
Redwood at Warsaw proposed a replat of lots 1-12 and 17-22 of Center Crest Subdivision. The primary purpose for this replat is to remove platted drainage and utility easements located between the various lots for future residential development. The replat will accommodate a proposed 99 unit residential development along Prosperity Drive.
All drainage, utility and ingress and egress easements will be relocated on the property where needed for the residential development.
Skinner explained that each unit will contain its own drive-way and garage. He also stated that these units would be primary geared to younger and older adults due to the two-bedroom size of the units.
Commission members commented on Warsaw’s shortage of housing and expressed gratitude for the project. Both the preliminary and final replat was approved.
The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 9.
