Altrusa Club Plans Being Finalized As 45th Year Begins
WARSAW — Officers and committee chairs for Altrusa International of Warsaw have been planning projects, fundraisers and events for their 45th anniversary year.
Members met on Thursday, June 7, at Richard’s Restaurant to establish committee objectives supporting the club’s mission which is to improve our community by providing service, developing leadership fostering understanding and encouraging fellowship through a network of dedicated volunteers. All club members are involved in the planning spearheaded by new standing committee chairs for the fiscal year including Jeanine Knowles, service; Vicki Martin, finance; Julie Hall, membership; and Sue Creighton, communication. Special 45th anniversary celebration activities will take place in the fall.
Upcoming projects include sponsorship of a fun-filled all-day bus tour provided by American dream Tours in Plymouth on Aug.16 and the club’s biggest service project, Bingo for Beaman Home, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 18. Club members are also planning for the 2018-2019 school year with their adopt-a-class at Lincoln Elementary and monthly meals for Bakers Youth Club. In addition, support will continue for the single mother they support through Combined Community Services’ Project Independence, the front doors at Habitat for Humanity, Mobile Meals, Grace College Mentors for Kids, Kosciusko Literacy Services and several other new and continuing service projects. Members enjoy participating in hands-on projects and partnering with other service or non-profit organizations.
The Club’s next meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. July 5, at Richard’s Restaurant. Strategic planning and budget discussions will take place along with regular business meeting agenda items. Individuals interested in community service are invited to attend to learn more about the organization and its impact on our local community.
