Community Input Meeting Held Regarding Proposed Bike Lanes
WARSAW — The city of Warsaw hosted a public discussion at the Pete Thorn Center, 800 N. Park Ave., Thursday, June 7, regarding proposed bike lanes on Fort Wayne and Main streets.
The city of Warsaw, in conjunction with the Ride Walk Advisory Committee, facilitated a community input meeting to discuss proposed improvements. The purpose was to gather feedback on proposed infrastructure for cyclists along Fort Wayne and Main streets, between Bronson Street to Park Avenue. This event was free and open to the public.
The neighborhood is adjacent to Lincoln Elementary School. Students who live within a mile of the school are encouraged to walk or ride to school. The addition of bike lanes in this area is anticipated to help encourage safe practices by motorists and cyclists through education and by creating awareness.
According to information passed out at the meeting, there have been numerous complaints of speeding in this area. The addition of bike lanes will narrow the drive lane, encouraging drivers to travel at reduced speeds.
