Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
8:22 p.m. Sunday, June 3, US 6, near South SR 15, New Paris. Drivers: Roger J. Hamsher, 68, North Main Street, Nappanee; and Neal A. Eash, 17, County Road 101, Nappanee. Each was traveling east on US 6 when Hamsher pulled into the intersection and struck the passenger side of his vehicle. All Elkhart County officers were busy at the time of the crash and requested the KCSD handle the accident. Damage up to $5,000.
12:11 p.m. Saturday, June 2, West US 30, near North CR 875W, Etna Green. Drivers: Collin D. Thomas, 16, East CR 650N, Syracuse; Kenneth J. Boilini, 72, East CR 450S, LaPorte; and Tonya S. Shuster, 56, West North Street, Etna Green. Thomas’ vehicle was behind Boilini’s when both of their vehicles began to drift, causing them both to lose control of their vehicles. The front of Thomas’ vehicle struck the rear driver’s side trailer tires of Boilini’s vehicle. Shutter’s vehicle was parked nearly off the roadway when Thomas’ vehicle struck the rear driver’s side of Shuster’s vehicle. Once Thomas’ vehicle struck Shuster’s, a passenger in the third vehicle, Miranda Scarberry, 34, was struck by Shuster’s vehicle. Thomas and a passenger in his vehicle, Katelynn Corcoran, 15, were able to exit the vehicle on their own. Shutter was extricated from her vehicle. Thomas and Corcoran were transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Thomas sustained minor bleeding to his elbow and lower arm, while Corcoran complained of pain to her neck. Scarberry complained of pain in her knee, lower leg, and foot area. Another passenger in Shuster’s vehicle, Maggi Scarberry, 12, complained of head pain. Damage up to $50,000.
11:10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, South CR 275E, near CR 375S, Warsaw. Driver: Yoali S. Marin, 22, South Cavin Street, Ligonier. Marin’s vehicle went off the roadway, causing her to strike a REMC utility pole. Damage up to $5,000.
4:41 a.m. Saturday, June 2, North SR 15, near West CR 400N, Warsaw. Drivers: Timothy D. Marsillett, 27, North Dolan Drive, Syracuse; and Joseph L. Emerson, Calvin Center Road, Cassopolis, Mich. Marsillett’s vehicle began to turn left on CR 400N when his vehicle collided head-on with Emerson’s vehicle. Marsillett complained of lips, knee and hand pain, and was taken to Lutheran Fort Wayne Hospital. Emerson complained of a cut on his right leg and some bruises. Both vehicles were trapped in their vehicles and had to be cut free. Damage up to $50,000.
11:27 a.m. Friday, June 1, North SR 13, near East CR 300N, Pierceton. Drivers: Andrew J. Mann, 20, East Daytona A52 N214, Eglin AFB, Fla.; and Don E. Parcell, 83, Southfield Circle, Goshen. Mann was turning right onto CR 300N in order to turn around and proceed northbound on SR 13. He didn’t notice Parcell’s vehicle traveling southbound when he made his turn. A minor passenger in Parcell’s vehicle was transported by North Webster EMS to Goshen General Hospital due to shoulder and upper arm pain. Damage up to $25,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
3:15 p.m. Friday, June 1, North Indiana Avenue, south of East CR 1400N. Drivers: Cody M. Sherman, 18, North Sir Lancelot Lane, Cromwell; and Laverne J. Yoder, County Road 25, New Paris. Sherman began to turn southbound but didn’t see Yoder’s vehicle prior to pulling into the intersection. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
5:26 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 904 South Buffalo St. Driver: Jeffrey L. Amiss, 59, West Hunters Drive Apt. A, Carmel. Amiss was traveling north on South Buffalo Street when his vehicle left the roadway and struck two mailboxes. Damage up to $2,500.
