Peggy L. ‘Peg’ Ehlinger
Mrs. Peggy L. “Peg” Ehlinger, 85, of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family: brothers Dean and Larry along with their wives Nancy Carol and Ruth Ann when she passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018, at her home.
On May 17, 1933, Peggy Lou Hunter was born in Fulton County. She was a treasured daughter of Guy E. and Lily E. Johnson Hunter. Growing up, she was the 10th of the 12 Hunter kids, sharing her childhood with eight brothers and three sisters. She was a proud member of the Rochester High School Class of 1952.
On April 1, 1950, Peggy married the love of her life, Harland “Bud” Ehlinger in Rochester. They shared 52 years of life’s adventures. From their union came two handsome sons, Danny and Donnie. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations.
A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Peggy also enjoyed shopping. In her earlier years she was a sun lover, catching the rays for a perfect bronzed glow. An accomplished card player, euchre was her game of choice. Peggy enjoyed many spirited games during the monthly meetings at the table with her classmates. She looked forward to the great class of 1952 reunions, having fun, laughing and reminiscing with old friends.
Peggy was a great woman, always there for you, ready to share a warm radiant smile and her eyes twinkled when she laughed. Her constitution was strong and she was loyal to friends and family. Paramount in her life was her family. She was so very proud to oversee four generations of the Hunter-Ehlinger family tree. She adored her grandchildren and the great-grandchildren and looked forward to their visits, making memories during the holidays and special family celebrations.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters-in-law: Betty Ehlinger of Culver, Sharon Ehlinger of Plymouth; four grandchildren: Shannon Shepherd (Thomas) Moors of Ratcliff, Ky., Guy Edwards Ehlinger of Manistee, Mich., Danny Nora Howard) Ehlinger Jr. of Twelve Mile, Casey (Sheila) Ehlinger of Morocco; 10 great-grandchildren: Emmalee, Dustin, Hanna, Devin, Landon, Leah, Cayci, Cailin, Cade and Cale; two brothers: Larry (Ruth Ann) Hunter of Rochester, Dean (Nancy Carol) Hunter of Stuart, Fla. and numerous nieces and nephews.
