Joan Elaine Cox
Joan Elaine Cox of Warsaw, passed away at 7:36 p.m. at Lake City Place of Warsaw on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the age of 88.
She was born Jan. 29, 1930, in Whitley County to Warren Henry Slater and Florence Irene (Reasoner) Slater. She was married to Samuel Hamman on Oct. 29, 1949. He passed away in 1985. She re-married on July 4, 1987, to Thomas H. Cox, who passed away on Sept. 3, 1999.
Mrs. Cox has been a resident of Kosciusko County since 1985, where she was a member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker and had worked part-time at J.C. Penney. She was a kind and soft-spoken lady, who loved her family dearly, and will be missed by her family, church family and countless friends.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons: Jeffrey (Connie) Hamman, Leesburg; Chad Hamman, Bristol, Tenn.; and her daughter: Melinda (Michael) Walters, Wabash. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Jeff (Cathy) Hamman, Plymouth; Honey Walters, Sacramento, Calif.; Miranda Hamman, Waterloo; Melissa Hamman, Fort Wayne; Ashley Hamman, Garrett; and several great grandchildren, as well as step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sons, David and Paul Hamman, and one grandson, Stephen Hamman.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2018, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
Her funeral service will follow immediately at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Dr. Erik Ohman. Burial will take place at South Whitley Cemetery.
