Girls Tennis: Mast Ends Stellar Career
LAPORTE – The brilliant prep tennis career of Morgan Mast came to a close Saturday.
The Fairfield star lost in the finals of the LaPorte Regional for No. 1 singles players.
Rose Pastoret of Michigan City Marquette sidelined Mast 6-0, 6-3 in the title match to advance to the State Finals next weekend in Indianapolis.
Mast, a senior for coach Mike Fibrin’s program, defeated Jaci Engleking of Rensselaer 6-2, 6-0 in her first match Saturday.
Mast is slated to play at Grace College next fall, where she will join sister Emily. The elder Mast played No. 1 singles last fall for the Lancers after attending the University of Toledo her freshman year.
The Elkhart Central No. 1 doubles team also saw its season end in the finals at LaPorte Saturday. The team of Gabby Carr and Hanna Losee lost 6-0, 6-0 to the Penn duo of Ali Kumfer and Alexis Nelson in the finale. Kumfer and Snelson advance to state with a 21-2 record.
Carr and Losee defeaed Alex Domokos and Morgan Corns of North Newton 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals.
