BREAKING — Two Hurt In US 30 Crash
ATWOOD — At least two people were hurt Saturday afternoon, June 2, in a US 30 crash involving a parked pickup truck, an SUV and a semi-tractor trailer.
Police and firefighters were called around noon Saturday to the 8700 block west of US 30 in the eastbound lanes. Responding were fire units from Atwood and Etna Township, along with Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officers and patrolmen from the Indiana State Police.
According to the KCSD officer investigating the accident, the three vehicles involved were traveling eastbound on US 30. However, the driver of a black pickup truck had stopped along the highway and was struck by a green Honda CRV SUV. The collision also impacted a semi-tractor trailer.
The SUV was driven by a male driver, who was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital after the SUV ended up on its side. There was also another passenger in the SUV who was not hurt. The female driver of the pickup truck was struck by the SUV and was also transported by EMS to a nearby hospital. The other three occupants of the pickup truck were not seriously hurt, nor was the driver of the semi. The accident is still under investigation and personnel assisting at the scene were busy clearing debris off the highway which stretched for hundreds of feet.
