Gerald Walter Reed, 70, Etna Green, passed away at 9:12 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at home. He peacefully fell asleep with his family at his side.
Mr. Reed was born July 6, 1947, in Hartford, Conn. He was the son of Rufus Walter Reed, Jr. and Doris Louise Abel. He has lived in the area since 1978. He worked as a truck driver for Chase Transportation and later Gundlach Trucking of Lakeville. As a younger man he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from Sept. 16, 1968 – April 18, 1970.
Survivors include his daughters: Tia Reed (Daniel Smallridge), Gracey, Ky.; Scarlett Murray, Warsaw; and his son Kenneth Walter Reed, Etna Green. Six grandchildren: Tianna, MaKenna, Summer, Shylah, Rayna and Keegan; his sister Cheryl and Brad Dart of Skaneateles, N.Y.; and his brother Kenneth George Reed and companion Sandi Steele of Lynchburg, Va. He was preceded in death only by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, June 9, in Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St. Bourbon, IN 46504.
Funeral services will follow at 2 P.M. in the funeral home with burial following in Etna Green Cemetery at Etna Green.
