Youth Served Among All-NLC Softball Picks
GOSHEN – A group of young stars from Warsaw, NorthWood and Wawasee peppered the All-Northern Lakes Conference softball lists for the 2018 season.
Freshman Lindsay Bradley, sophomore Izzy Dittmar and junior Courtney Chookie were First-Team All-NLC for the Tigers while freshman Ava Rush and junior Graceanne Kerlin were tabbed First-Team All-NLC for the Warriors. Sophomores Gracie Clark and Madison Miller were picked as First-Team All-NLC for the Panthers.
Junior Katie Anderson was named Honorable Mention for the Tigers, which finished 7-7 in league play and tied for third with Goshen.
Freshman Danielle Jenkins was named Honorable Mention for the Warriors, which finished 5-9 in league play and tied for sixth with Memorial.
Elderstateswoman Alexis Klotz, a senior, was named Honorable Mention for the Panthers, which finished 6-8 in league play and alone in fifth place.
Both Concord and Northridge were co-champs of the NLC this season, finishing at 13-1 overall. Concord had Yadi Gomez, Alexis Kern, Madison Loge and Alysa Marcin named First-Team All-NLC while Northridge had Meghan Bontrager, Allison Hostetler, Sara Troyer and Madison Wienert named First-Team All-NLC.
Skylar Hartpence and Madison Kelly from Concord and Ashley Beckler and Makenna Knepp of Northridge were all named Honorable Mention All-NLC.
In guiding her team to a share of the conference title, Concord head coach Dawn Austin was named the Northern Lakes Conference Coach of the Year.
Goshen had AnaMaria Ramirez and Brynn Shoup-Hill named All-NLC and Maddie Cross named Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Memorial had Ashley Asher and Leeah Wade named All-NLC and Cadence Lee named Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Plymouth (0-14) had Shayla Noble named All-NLC and Audrey Himes named Honorable Mention All-NLC.
