Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
5:48 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, North SR 15, south of West CR 600N, Leesburg. Driver: Porfirio M. Gomora, 36, East Wooster Road, Pierceton. Gomora told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 15 when a deer entered the roadway. He was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $5,000.
7:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, North SR 13, Syracuse. Drivers: Randolph L. Plew, 70, West CR 150N, Columbia City; Abigail M. Bardasian, 38, Stratford Avenue, University City, Mo. Plew told police he was backing his vehicle out of a parking spot and did not see the vehicle driven by Bardasian. Damage up to $5,000.
6:11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, West CR 500N and North CR 500W, Warsaw. Driver: Chad A. White, 24, West CR 550N, Warsaw. White told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on CR 500N when a deer entered the roadway. He was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $5,000.
4:37 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, West CR 1350N, east of North CR 400W, Warsaw. Drivers: Jeremy P. Wagoner, 46, South Prettyman Street, Knox; Jay C. Glon, 52, East Beer Road, Milford. Wagoner told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on West CR 1350N when he dozed off, causing his vehicle to cross the center line and collide with Glon’s vehicle. Both Wagoner and Glon were transported to Goshen General Hospital for treatment. Wagoner was cited for driving while suspended, expired plates and improper registration. Damage up to $25,000.
6:25 a.m. Monday, May 28, West US 30 and North CR 650W, Atwood. Driver: Austin L. Mills, 36, Foxnoll, Fort Wayne. Mills told police he fell asleep at the wheel while driving his vehicle eastbound on US 30 and left the roadway. His vehicle came to rest in weeds. Damage up to $10,000.
2:54 p.m. Monday, May 28, North SR 13, south of East CR 200N, Pierceton. Driver: Ryan J. Sparks, 31, East Sycamore Street, Silver Lake. Police said Sparks was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 13. Sparks told police he possibly blacked out. The vehicle left the west side of the roadway, struck a mailbox and culvert and came to rest in a ditch. A passenger in Sparks’ vehicle was transported by EMS to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $10,000.
2:14 p.m. Monday, May 28, Brown Road and East CR 500N, Leesburg. Drivers: Stephen R. Ledgerwood, 28, East CR 500N, Leesburg; Brian S. Smith, 57, East CR 500N, Leesburg. Ledgerwood told police he was backing his vehicle out of his driveway and did not see the vehicle driven by Smith. Damage up to $5,000.
4:50 a.m. Monday, May 28, East Armstrong Road and North CR 200E, Leesburg. Driver: Jonna A. Stamm, 34, EMS T6A Lane, Leesburg. Stamm told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on Armstrong Road when a raccoon entered the roadway. She was unable to avoid hitting the animal. Damage up to $5,000.
10:47 a.m. Sunday, May 27, East Wooster Road, west of South CR 500E, Pierceton. Driver: Brooklyn P. Addair, 19, East CR 350S, Pierceton. Addair told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on Wooster Road and that her vehicle left the north side of the roadway. Because of the steepness of the shoulder, Addair could not correct and the vehicle plunged into a soybean field and struck a utility pole. Addair initially complained of arm pain but refused medical treatment. Damage up to $5,000.
3:10 p.m. Saturday, May 26, South SR 15, east of West CR 900S, Silver Lake. Drivers: Ronald D. Thompson, 71, East Elm Lane, Claypool; Cheryl A. Maggart, 52, Indian Hills, Wabash. Police said that according to a witness, Thompson was driving his vehicle westbound on CR 900S and stopped at a stop sign before entering the intersection with SR 15 and into the path of the vehicle driven by Maggart. Both Thompson and Maggart, as well as a juvenile passenger in Maggart’s vehicle, were taken by EMS to nearby hospitals. Damage up to $25,000.
4:05 p.m. Friday, May 25, West US 30 and North CR 700W, Atwood. Drivers: Robert O. Shadwell, 75, West Lutes Drive, Warsaw; Alison N. McCready, 28, Marvin Lane, Delaware, Ohio. Police said Shadwell was driving his vehicle southbound on CR 700W and stopped at the intersection with US 30 before pulling into the path of the vehicle driven by McCready. Damage up to $25,000.
11:09 a.m. Friday, May 25, North Old Road 15 and West CR 1000N, Milford. Drivers: Roger D. King, 56, South Higbee Street, Milford; Josefina R. Cisneros, 31, North CR 600W, Warsaw. Both King and Cisneros were driving their vehicles southbound on Old Road 15 near CR 1000N. King was following behind Cisneros and told police he took his eyes off the road and when he looked back, he was close to Cisneros’s vehicle. He said he could not slow down in time to avoid a rear-end collision. Damage up to $10,000.
Syracuse
Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:57 a.m. Thursday, May 24, North Huntington Street, north of East Henry Street, Syracuse. Drivers: Jerry L. Stutzman, 77, North SR 13, Syracuse; Zachary T. Munn, 19, CR 31, Goshen. Police said both Stutzman and Munn were driving their vehicles northbound on Huntington Street and Munn signaled to onto West Henry Street when the vehicle driven by Stutzman collided with the rear of his vehicle. Both drivers were checked by EMS personnel at the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
5:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, US 30, west of Meijer Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Joseph D. Doty, 32, West CR 300N, Etna Green; Roger D. Peachey, 56, Court Street, Winona Lake; Ashley K. Vandiepenbos, 35, North CR 750E, Avilla. Doty told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on US 30 when traffic in front of him came to an abrupt stop. Doty’s vehicle collided with Peachey’s vehicle, which in turn collided with the vehicle driven by Vandiepenos. Damage up to $10,000.
