Ursula Anne Abell
Ursula Anne Abell, 75, Roann, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Miller’s Merry Manor East, Wabash.
She was born May 20, 1943 in Santa Cruz, Calif., to Samuel G. and Ursula (McMurphy) Richardson.
She was a 1961 graduate of Santa Cruz High School, Calif. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Biola Univeristy in Los Angeles, Calif.; her Bachelor of Science degree from Manchester College, and her Masters degree from the University of St. Francis, Fort Wayne.
She married Dale P. Abell in Santa Cruz on Aug. 24, 1968. She retired in 2008 from MSD of Wabash County after teaching second grade for 41 years. She was a member of the Roann United Methodist Church, and was head of the Apple Dumpling Project at the church. She was also a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and was its recording secretary.
She is survived by her husband: Dale P. Abell, Roann; two sons: Phillip (Kristina) Abell, Newburgh; and William S. (Trisha) Abell, Wabash; four grandchildren: Gwendolyn Marie Abell and Grant Phillip Abell, Wabash; Samuel Robert Abell and Johnathan William Abell, Newburgh; and sister: Louise (Donald) McNair, Havelock, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, with Pastor Wayne Balmer officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is through Roann United Methodist Church.
