Harold W. Budd
Harold W. Budd, 91, Goshen, and a life-long resident of Pulaski County, went home to be with the Lord at 10:05 p.m. Thursday, May 24.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1926 in Pulaski, to the late Schuyler and Nelle Herrick Budd. He was a 1945 graduate of Pulaski High School. He served in the US Army at the end of WWII and was a member of the Winamac American Legion. On March 31, 1957, he married the love of his life, Ruth F. Smith, at the Methodist Church in Winamac.
He farmed and sold insurance until 1968 when he quit farming to devote himself to the insurance agency. He retired in 2004 after a successful career. He was a former 4H club leader and overall supporter of local 4H programs.
He was a longtime member and past president of the Winamac Kiwanis Club and a member of the Pulaski County Historical Society. He was a lifelong member of the Pulaski Presbyterian Church, where he served numerous years as an elder. Music was his passion and a talent. He served as the church choir director for 47 years and was involved with numerous music groups including the Logansport Iron Horseman Barbershop Chorus. Another special talent was his ability to create beautiful cottonwood bark carvings.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife: Ruth F. Smith Budd, Goshen; three daughters: Susan E. Budd, Fort Wayne; Linda K. (Bruce) Wells, Nappanee; and Laura F. Horning, Goshen; a son: David W. (Karen) Budd, Winamac; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Winamac, with Rev. Dave Marty officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at First United Methodist Church, Winamac.
A Kiwanis Memorial Service will take place at 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Frain Mortuary.
Burial will take place at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac. The American Legion and VFW will conduct Military Graveside Services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Emmaus Mission Center, Inc., Logansport, or to Heifer International.
