Audra Irene Rhoades
Audra Irene Rhoades, 95, Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, and formerly a long time resident of Pierceton, passed away at 10:47 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2018, in Grace Village Health Care.
She was a virtuous, quiet woman of great faith. She stepped on shore and found it Heaven, took a hand and found God’s. She breathed her first breath of new air and found it celestial. And waking up in Glory and she found it Home.
She was born Jan. 24, 1923, in Clay Township, Kosciusko County, to Arlie F. Beigh and Laurena (Karns) Beigh. On Nov. 26, 1942, in Walkerton, she was married to Ernest F. Rhoades, who passed away on Aug. 15, 2000.
She was lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, residing the majority of her life in Pierceton. And she was a 1941 graduate of Claypool High School. She was very involved with the Warsaw and Winona Lake Gideon Auxiliary since the 1960’s, and was a volunteer coordinator for the Kosciusko County Historical Society for many years as well as being involved with child evangelism.
She was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, and was a member of the Atwood Christian Fellowship.She was a praying mother and grandmother and will be forever missed.
She will be lovingly remembered by her four sons: Ron (Judy) Rhoades, Holland, Mich.; John (Aggie) Rhoades, Fort Meyers, Fla.; Frank (Christy) Rhoades, Pierceton; and Dean (Chris) Rhoades, Pierceton. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren: Todd (Tracie) Rhoades, Holland, Mich.; Courtney Rhoades, Texas; Jennifer Rhoades, Chicago, Ill.; Anna (Jason) Umstead, North Carolina; Morgan Rhoades, Fort Meyers, Fla.; Rebecca (John) Repp, Tennessee; Jason (Jodi) Rhoades, Pierceton; Nathan Rhoades, Sidney; and Janelle (Keirn) Rhoades, Pierceton; Aaron Rhoades, Indiana; Carrie (Nathan) Sautter, North Manchester; Stephanie (Brandon) Cloud, Pierceton; Ethan (Rachael) Rhoades, Pierceton; and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Rhoades in 2000, two sisters, four brothers, and her great-grandson, Brevin Sautter.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, May 26, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Her funeral service will follow immediately at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Jerry Kissinger. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Graceland Cemetery in Claypool, Indiana.
