Milford Man Arrested For Attempting To Pay With Counterfeit Money
KOSCIUSKO — According to police, a Milford man attempted to pay for merchandise with a counterfeit $20 bill. The store did not accept the money and the man was later arrested when he admitted to the crime during a courtesy transport by police to his grandmother’s house.
Aarron Lee Warren, 27, 207 N. East St., Milford, is being charged with counterfeiting, a level 6 felony.
On April 23, officers with the Syracuse Police Department responded to a local convenience store. An employee advised that a male subject presented him with a counterfeit $20 bill to pay for merchandise. The employee knew the bill was counterfeit and told the subject he was keeping the bill. The male subject had more money in his possession but did not offer to pay for the merchandise and left the store.
The officer was provided with the counterfeit bill. The employee was able to identify the subject as Warren because he regularly frequents the store.
On May 2, an officer received a complaint of a suspicious person at the intersection of CR 250E and CR 1300N. The officer arrived in the area and identified the male as Warren. Warren told the officer he had been dropped off at the intersection by a friend and needed to get to his grandmother’s residence. The officer agreed to provide Warren with a courtesy transport.
While being transported to his grandmother’s residence, Warren asked if the officer was looking for him because he used a counterfeit $20 bill. Warren further admitted to handing a counterfeit $20 bill to the cashier to pay for merchandise.
Warren was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on May 18, with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
