Woman Arrested After Dropping Drug Stash Inside Local Bank
KOSCIUSKO — A Winona Lake woman was recently arrested after accidentally dropping her drug stash inside a local bank.
Danyelle Rebecca Palmer, 26, 209 15th St., Winona Lake, is being charged with possession of a narcotic drug, a level 6 felony.
On March 12, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a drug complaint at Lake City Bank. The bank branch manager advised that a customer, Palmer, was in the teller line conducting business. When Palmer left the bank, the employee noticed a plastic bag that contained a powdery substance. The employee believed the bag to contain illegal drugs and called the police.
According to the bank employee, there were no other customers in the bank before or after Palmer left and the plastic bag was discovered. The bank also had surveillance video that showed a plastic bag falling out of Palmer’s pocket and onto the floor. Both the video and the plastic bag were provided to the officers.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the powder substance tested positive for heroin.
The officer spoke with Palmer who admitted she visited the bank on March 12, and that after she left the bank she realized the plastic bag was no longer in her pocket.
Palmer was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on May 17, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
