UPDATE — Critical Injuries Reported In SR 25 Accident
WARSAW — Kosciusko County officials are currently investigating a motor vehicle traffic crash on SR 25 at Ferguson Road, Warsaw. The operator of the vehicle sustained critical injuries, one passenger sustained life threatening injuries and one passenger sustained minor injuries.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded to SR 25 at Ferguson Road at approximately 3:09 a.m. Saturday, May 20, to a reported single vehicle crash. The incident involved a southbound 2007 silver Jeep that exited the eastern edge of the roadway in a curve and rolled multiple times into a field. Once off the roadway, the Jeep rolled multiple times, ejecting all three occupants from the vehicle. The Jeep came to rest near a residence after colliding with a utility shed on the property.
The operator of the Jeep was identified as Roberto Cervantes, 22, Warsaw. Cervantes was transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, by Lutheran Air Ambulance for treatment of head and neck injuries. Cervantes is listed in critical condition at the time of this release.
A passenger in the Jeep was identified as Andrew M. Matthews, 21, Leesburg. Matthews was transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, by Lutheran EMS for treatment of head and neck injuries. Matthews was released after treatment at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Another passenger in the Jeep was identified as Lindsey Tatum, 23, Warsaw. Tatum was transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, by Lutheran Air Ambulance for treatment of internal injuries. Tatum is listed in critical condition at the time of this release.
Officers stated that the crash is still under investigation. The Kosciusko County Fatal Team was assisted at the scene by members of the Lutheran EMS, Lutheran Air Ambulance, Warsaw Fire Department, Warsaw Police Department, the Indiana State Police and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
