Avis E. ‘Elaine’ Madden
Avis E. “Elaine” Madden, 73, Leesburg, passed away at 9 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018, at her home. She was born on May 2, 1945, in South Charleston, W. Va. to Arlie B. and Delpha (Belcher) Payne.
She graduated from DuPont High School in DuPont City, W. Va. and was married on April 20, 1970, in El Centro, Calif. to Richard P. “Rick” Madden, who survives. She retired in 2007 from Rohm Haas in Warsaw and was formerly a waitress and at a local boat company. She grew up in Campbells Creek, W. Va., and lived in Arizona and Ligonier before moving to the Leesburg area 35+ years ago.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling, flowers, and her family.
She is survived by her two daughters: Kristina Patrick, Heather Madden, both of Leesburg; a son, Shane (Erica) Madden, Umatilla, Fla.; nine grandchildren and and one great granddaughter; two sisters: Phyllis Morris and Edna “Susie” Moten, both of Charleston, W. Va.; three brothers: Johnny (Barbara) Sparks, Ligonier; Leslie “Bubby” (Evalynn) Payne, Quinwood, W. Va.; Glen “Chubby” (Pat) Payne, Quinwood, W. Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack Sparks.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster with Shane Madden officiating. Private burial will take place in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery at a later date.
