Mary E. Crowe
Mary E. Crowe, 84, Bremen, died at 1:50 a.m., Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa, after a short illness. She was born to Willard and Marjorie (Young) Slabaugh, March 15, 1934, at her family home, south of Nappanee.
Mrs. Crowe was a graduate of Nappanee High School and lived her lifetime in the Nappanee, Goshen and Bremen area. She graduated from Ashland College with a Bachelor’s Degree in music and received her Master’s Degree from Valparaiso University. She retired from Bremen Schools where she had taught music for over 20 years.
Mrs. Crowe also taught piano and voice at her home from many years and was the choir director and organist for many years at First Brethren Church in Nappanee, where she was a member. Her life revolved around the love of her family and music.
On Aug. 16, 1953, she married Robert D. Crowe in Nappanee. He preceded her in death Aug. 2, 2007. She is survived by her children: Arlene Siefer, Bremen; John (Sandy) Crowe, Wheaton, Ill.; grandchildren: Benjamin (Samantha) Crowe, Nathan, Sarah, Rachel, and Aaron Crowe, Adam (Alyssa) Siefer, Amy (Jordan) Sinclair; great grandchildren: Lily, Luke, Levi Siefer; and sisters: Rita Moore, Wakarusa; and Joanne Kroft, Savannah, Ohio. She was preceded in death by brothers, Wayne and Max Slabaugh.
Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service which will be at 10 a.m., May 17, at First Brethren Church, Nappanee. Rev. Tom Schiefer will officiate and burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
