Summer Plans For 1:1 Devices
SYRACUSE — Wawasee students will be keeping their devices again during the summer months. The goal is to encourage and facilitate continuous learning throughout the summer.
Partnering With Community Libraries
Wawasee is partnering with local community libraries to inform students how to obtain access to eBooks for summer reading. Each Wawasee student is eligible for a free Evergreen card. Representatives from community libraries will work with schools to help students understand how to obtain a library card and check out eBooks through the community library systems.
Wawasee school library eBooks will also be available for check out during the summer months.
Summer Weekly Help Desk Times
To help support the summer take home program, the media center at Wawasee High School will be open from 3:30 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday with the exception of the Fourth of July. Parents and/or their students will be able to come to get help with their computer devices or have them repaired if necessary. The late evenings will only be hosted at Wawasee High School.
Paid Insurance
Wawasee Community School Corporation will be providing insurance for all devices again. If parents are concerned about having the devices at home this summer, they can contact their building principal during regular school hours.
Relocation
For students who are leaving the school district during the summer, they must return the device, charger, and case to the WCSC Central Office or Wawasee High School Technology Department. Failure to return a device will result in turning over the full amount of the device and case to collections and/or small claims.
Notice To Future Fourth Grade Parents
Third grade students will be turning in iPads to their classroom teachers and receiving the returned Chromebooks from this year’s seniors for next year. Those incoming fourth grade students will be able to pick up their Chromebooks from the high school tech center during regular school hours or on the weekly Wednesday help desk when they are ready to be distributed in June. Parents will be notified when Chromebooks are available after cleaning and servicing. Devices not picked up can be obtained during registration in August.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact your school office or Dee Blair, technology secretary, at (574) 457-3147, extension 2924 or [email protected].
