NorthWood Softball: Panthers Top Goshen
NAPPANEE – The NorthWood softball team closed out regular-season in winning fashion Wednesday night.
The host Panthers defeated Goshen 4-2 in their regular-season and Northern Lakes Conference finale at the Callander Sports Complex.
NorthWood scored single runs in the first, second, fourth and sixth innings to defeat the RedHawks. Goshen scored in the first frame and again in the sixth inning.
NorthWood outhit Goshen 10-5 in the contest.
Kylie Thornton led the offense for NorthWood with three singles.
Halie DeMien had two hits, including a double for the winners. Grace Anglemyer, along with Kylie Hochstetler, Gracie Clark, Lili Lomeli, and Amanda Jenkins, each had singles.
NorthWood honored seniors Kylie Hochstetler and Alexis Klotz on Senior Night.
Ana Maria Ramirez had a triple and an RBI for Goshen. Maddie Cross had a double and an RBI for the RedHawks and Brynn Shoup Hill took the pitching loss.
Goshen won the junior varsity game 19-7. Noemi Vela had four RBI and Isabel DeGraff and Devin Shipley each drove in three runs for Goshen. Goshen finishes its season at 14-6 overall and 10-2 in the NLC.
NorthWood plays Knox Monday night at 5:30 p.m. in the opening game of the Class 3-A NorthWood Sectional.
Goshen hosts Prairie Heights Friday and plays at Westview Saturday. The RedHawks then play Elkhart Memorial on Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Class 4-A Elkhart Memorial Sectional.
