SYRACUSE — The home of Curtis and Natalie Smeltzer, 10469 S. Syracuse-Webster Road, Syracuse, was destroyed by fire this morning, Wednesday, May 16.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory, along with full assists from North Webster and Milford fire departments received the call at approximately 9:20 a.m. Flames were showing when firefighters received the call.
Natalie Smeltzer had left the home 10 minutes prior to the fire being spotted. No one else was at the residence when the fire occurred. The Smeltzers do have insurance and have a place to stay.
Firefighters used a transitional approach in fighting the fire – using both a defensive and offensive attack.
Firefighters are still at the scene and the cause is unknown at this time.
The two-story wood-frame home was built in the early 1900s.
