Radeker Tabbed As New Northridge Hoops Coach
MIDDLEBURY – Scott Radeker is the newest coach to join the basketball ranks in the Northern Lakes Conference.
Radeker, pending school board approval tonight, will be the new Northridge boys basketball coach.
Radeker replaces Ronnie Thomas as the new man in charge of the Raiders. Thomas, a former Northridge player, resigned in April to pursue a job in the business community. Thomas was 76-60 in six years at Northridge.
Radeker stepped down in March after spending the last eight seasons as the boys basketball coach at Lafayette Jeff High School. He was 97-88 there, including 17-8 this past season.
Radeker is 217-168 overall in 17 seasons as a high school coach in Indiana. The native of New York went 120-80 in nine years at North Montgomery, where he won four sectional championships.
Radeker was chosen as one of the assistant coaches for the Indiana All-Star team this summer. Radeker’s replacement at Lafayette Jeff is former Elkhart Memorial coach Mark Barnhizar.
Northridge finished 13-11 overall during the 2017-18 season and were runner-up in the Class 4-A Elkhart Sectional to Elkhart Memorial. The Raiders shared the Northern Lakes Conference title with Warsaw this past season after going 5-2 in league play. Northridge graduated six seniors from Thomas’ final team, including two of the top three scorers.
Radeker joins Derrick DeShone as new boys basketball coaches in the NLC. DeShone was hired last week to replace Steve Austin at Concord.
