A far cry from its game Wednesday, Wawasee’s softball team played a tight one in a 3-2 loss to Elkhart Central in Syracuse.
After playing in a game that had 32 runs and 36 hits at Northridge Wednesday, Wawasee and Elkhart Central combined for just eight hits and no runs after the fourth inning. The key run came from Central in that fourth, an RBI from Jen Gill. Sabryna Stanley added a two-run homer for the Blazers.
Wawasee’s two runs came on bunts, one by Danielle Jenkins that scored Aubrey Kuhn, another from Graceanne Kerlin that brought Jenkins home. Wawasee would load the bases with one out, but Central was able to get out of the jam. Wawasee would leave two runners in scoring position the rest of the way, but went quietly in the seventh.
Bethany Flannery and Lilly Fann both tossed complete games, Flannery striking out five in the loss, Fenn two in the win.
Wawasee (7-13) will take on Plymouth Friday.
