Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
6:54 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, West CR 225N, east of North CR 950W, Etna Green. Driver: Carolyn J. Kaiser-Rapp, 76, North CR 875W, Etna Green. Officers responded to a report of a car accident involving a 5-year-old pedestrian. Kaiser-Rapp was traveling west on CR 225N when she observed a female minor sitting in a ditch on the north side of the road. She then saw a male child, identified as Mikey Haverstock, 5, run across the roadway. Kaiser-Rapp was unable to avoid a collision with the child. Kaiser-Rapp stopped her vehicle as soon as possible. Haverstock complained of pain in his head and body. He was transported by Lutheran Air to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. At the time of the accident report, Haverstock was reported to be in stable condition with a superficial head injury, no skull fracture and a fractured left hip with minor abrasions to his arms and hands. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
6:49 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, SR 15, north of East Fort Wayne Street. Drivers: Karisma L. Frantz, 17, East CR 200N 52, Warsaw, and Lauren E. Prater, 27, North Lake Street, Warsaw. Frantz was traveling north on SR 15, attempting to make a left turn into a parking lot. A motorist stopped to give Frantz’s vehicle a gap to make the turn. She didn’t see Prater’s vehicle traveling south on SR 15 in the right lane, causing Prater’s vehicle to strike Frantz’s as she was turning left. Damage up to $2,500.
5:37 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, East Old Road 30, near US 30. Drivers: Hannah A. Weber, 27, South SR 13, Claypool, and Jeffrey S. Larson, 36, EMS B25 Lane, Pierceton. Weber was traveling west on Old Road 30, dropping a pack of cigarettes as she was stopping her vehicle for a red traffic light. She looked down to grab them and when she did, Weber’s vehicle rear-ended Larson’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
8:36 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 488 Clinic Court, south of East Old Road 30. Driver: Tanya L. Fruchey, 48, Clinic Court, Warsaw. Fruchey was driving north through the main driveway of Eastgate Apartments, heading towards the entrance of the apartment complex. Aidan L. Camp, 5, Clinic Court, Warsaw, entered the roadway in front of her on a bicycle. By the time Fruchey hit the brakes, her vehicle was unable to avoid striking Camp on his bike. When Camp fell, he hit his head on the pavement. He sustained a laceration to his hand and abrasions on his back and was transported by ambulance to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $2,500.
