Robert E. Mattix
Robert E. “Bob” Mattix, 87, rural Claypool, passed at 2:49 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2018, at his residence.
He was born on Dec 20, 1930, in Claypool to Ralph and Neva (Jones) Mattix.
He married on April 8, 1953, to Margie M. Shireman, who preceded on July 30, 1997.
He had been a farmer and a school bus driver. He most recently delivered buses for Kerlin Bus.
He graduated from Burket High School in 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Army serving during Korean War stationed in Germany. He had attended the Burket United Methodist Church. Bob Mattix was a loyal basketball fan and enjoyed watching Tippecanoe Valley and Indiana University. He had raised and ran border collies in herding dog trials.
He is survived by his daughters: Dana (Kerry) Stogsdill, Warsaw; Sandy (Chris) Vogel, Mentone; Vicki (Greg) Utter, Andrews; grandchildren: Brooks Stogsdill, Brandon (Karyn) Stogsdill; Kyle Vogel, Devin Vogel, Karl and Karl Ehlers, Jordan Utter and Zachary Utter; a special friend, Doris Banghart, Warsaw. He was preceded by his parents, wife and a sister, Norma Slack.
A time of visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m., Thursday, also at the funeral home. Pastor Ben Pippen will officiate. Burial will take place at Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake. Graveside military rites will be performed by the Warsaw American Legion Post.
