Warsaw Man Sentenced For Possession Of Methamphetamine
KOSCIUSKO — A Warsaw man was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court Monday, May 7, after officers discovered methamphetamine and syringes in his vehicle.
Jamey Dorian Roberts, who is shown with addresses at 205 E. Smith St., Milford, and 3781 N. Maple Drive, Warsaw, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances, a level 5 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sept. 16, 2017, a Warsaw police officer saw a vehicle on Smith Street in Warsaw. The vehicle’s registration was for a different vehicle, causing the officer to make a traffic stop.
Since his driver’s license was suspended, Roberts’ vehicle was impounded. While completing inventory search of the vehicle, officers discovered 10 syringes, plastic bags and a plastic spoon containing a white residue.
The residue field tested positive for methamphetamine. One of the syringes also contained 11 units of a clear liquid that also tested positive for methamphetamine.
Prosecuting attorney Dan Hampton stated that Roberts is currently a part of the Serenity House program in Warsaw.
“I think completing that residential program would be a good rehabilitative step for him,” Hampton said.
Defense attorney Scott Reust said that Roberts has been a part of the program for two months.
Judge Michael Reed sentenced Roberts to three years at the Indiana Department of Corrections but suspended the sentence and placed him on formal probation. Roberts must successfully complete a substance abuse evaluation program, as well as complete the Serenity House residential program.
“It looks like you’re on the right track,” Reed said. “Stay on that path. As long as you do, you have a chance of improving yourself.”
