Warsaw Sports Wrap: May 4
Softball
The Warsaw softball team lost to Goshen 4-1.
The Tigers outhit the RedHawks 8-5, but still dropped the Northern Lakes Conference contest.
The game was moved to Warsaw due to unplayable field conditions at Goshen due to the heavy rains earlier in the week.
Goshen scored once in the third inning and three times in the fourth frame en route to beating the Tigers for the second time this season. Grace Vance, Breanna Boocher and Alexis Navarro all had RBI hits in the fourth for the winners.
Izzy Dittmar led Warsaw with a pair of hits.
Courtney Chookie took the pitching loss, going six innings and allowing just two earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
Brynn Shoup-Hilll earned the win for Goshen as she went seven innings and struck out five.
Warsaw falls to 7-9 overall and moves to 5-4 in NLC play.
The Tigers travel to Plymouth for another NLC game Monday night.
Baseball
The Warsaw baseball team dropped a 4-0 final to Goshen.
The RedHawks, who lead the league, scored all their runs in the third inning en route to the Northern Lakes Conference win at Warsaw.
Jared Hawley, along with Noah Burgh, Liam Patton, Matt Shoemaker and Michael Nunez, each had a hit for the Tigers.
Warsaw falls to 3-11 overall and goes to 1-8 in the NLC.
Warsaw hosts Plymouth in NLC action Monday at 5:15 p.m.
