Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
9:41 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, North SR 19, near West SR 10, Warsaw. Driver: Philip J. Hanley, 45, North Main St., Bourbon. Hanley was traveling south on SR 19 when a deer ran into his vehicle’s path, causing a collision. Damage up to $2,500.
Pierceton
Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:
8:10 a.m. Thursday, May 3, US 30, west of SR 13. Drivers: Connie Curry, 52, Lakecrest Drive, Columbia City; and Ashley Ramer, 31, South CR 200W, Albion. Curry was traveling west on US 30, noticing another vehicle in front of her that was stopped for a traffic signal. Curry looked away from the roadway briefly and rear-ended Ramer’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
10:33 a.m. Thursday, May 3, East Market St., south of South Buffalo Street Drivers: Kathryn E. Fields, 33, North Morgan St., Mentone; and Timothy J. Jansma, 57, North CR 450E, Leesburg. Fields was approaching an intersection when she saw Jansma’s vehicle execute a left hand turn. Fields’ vehicle drove into Janiouytsma’s vehicle path and caused a collision. Damage up to $5,000.
6:38 a.m. Thursday, May 3, US 30, west of East Old Road 30. Drivers: Tyler S. Lemon, 29, Goldenrod Court, Bluffton; and Jennifer A. Scheffer, 44, North Harris St., Bourbon. Lemon’s vehicle was stopped at an intersection when he thought the traffic signal turned green and proceeded to turn right on US 30. As he got into the inside lane, Lemon’s vehicle was struck by Scheffer’s vehicle. Lemon complained of neck pain and was transported to Parkview Warsaw for further medical evaluation. Damage up to $10,000.
11:56 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, North Parker St., south of Dubois Drive. Drivers: Douglas Spears, 75, South Packerton Road, Warsaw; Nathaniel J. Gephart, 33, East CR 1500N, North Manchester; and Shannon D. Stewart, 80, Shawnee Drive, Warsaw. Spears stated that he didn’t see Gephart’s vehicle until he was already attempting to turn left into a gas station. Gephart’s vehicle collided with Spears’, causing Spears’ vehicle to collide with Stewart’s vehicle. Spears complained of pain in his wrists but signed off for medical attention. Gephart sustained minor abrasions on his forearms from airbag deployment. Damage up to $25,000.
11:18 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, East US 30, south of South CR 325E. Drivers: Juan Acuahuitl, 16, East Wooster Road 31, Pierceton; and Stacia G. Stump, 56, West Gilbert Lake Road, Kimmell. Acuahuitl’s vehicle was crossing the west bound lanes of U.S. 30 when his view of east bound traffic was blocked by a vehicle. Acuahuitl attempted to cross the east bound lanes and crossed in front of Stump’s vehicle. Stump’s vehicle struck Acuahuitl’s in the rear passenger side. Acuahuitl was transported to KCH due to being a juvenile and was not able to sign off at the scene. Damage up to $25,000.
10:33 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, Dubois Drive, north of North Harrison Street Drivers: Jennifer K. Lilly, 51, North CR 250W, Columbia City; and C.D. Rife, 83, North CR 670E, Peru. Lilly’s vehicle was traveling west on Dubois Drive behind Rife’s vehicle. Lilly assumed that Rife’s vehicle was beginning to turn right and she proceeded to turn as well, causing a rear-end collision. Damage up to $5,000.
2:17 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2223 E. Center St. Drivers: Grant A. Fiandt, 25, EMS B44 Lane, Leesburg; and Balwinder Singh, 53, Eagle Brook Lane, Naperville, Ill. While backing out of a parking spot, Fiandt did not notice Singh’s westbound vehicle, causing a collision. Damage up to $2,500.
