Warsaw Track: Ladies Finish Another NLC Season Unbeaten
WARSAW – The Warsaw girls track team put an exclamation point on another undefeated regular season Tuesday night.
The Warsaw ladies celebrated Senior Night in style with another dominating performance in topping Plymouth 107-25 in the regular-season and Northern Lakes Conference finale at Fisher Field.
The Tigers capped off another 7-0 league finish to extend their winning streak to 67 in a row in NLC meets.
Warsaw, under the direction of first-year coach Megan Davis, won 14 events to defeat the Pilgrims.
The outstanding trio of Abbi Curtis, Maygan Bellamy and Shunterra Davis led the way for Warsaw in the victory.
Curtis won the 200-meter dash in a top tie of 27.36. She also teamed with Davis, Kendra Love and Clampitt to take first in the 4 X 100 in a time of 50.46.
Bellamy won the 400 in a time of 1:02.05 and also claimed top honors in the 100-meter dash event in 13.13.
Davis soared 16-9.50 to win the long jump competition for the Tigers.
Emma Bohnenkamper claimed the top place in the 1,600 in 5:35.75. Remi Beckham won the 800 in 2:27.84 and Mia Beckham captured the 3,200 in 11:56.20.
Michaela Buriff on the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 50.57. The 4 X 800 relay team of Ashlynn Hepler, Carmen Yoder, Alexandra Herman and Adree Beckham won in 10:24.97. The 4 X 400 relay team of Angie Sanchez-Vijil, Ellie Klotz, Remi Beckham and Bellamy won in a time of 4:18.06.
Lexie Day claimed top honors in the high jump by clearing 4-10. Caitlin Kehler won the pole vault by going 10-0 and Lynae Dawson won the discus event with a throw of 100-08.
The Warsaw program honored seniors Mia Beckham, Bohnenkamper, Morgan Bruner, Curtis, Kaitlyn Dailey, Davis, Day, Jemina Fugate, Passion Gardner, Amber Hagan, Madison Haines, Kendall Menzie, Sierra Palmer and Brooke Whitaker.
“Each one of these ladies has brought something unique and different to our 2018 Lady Tiger Family,” said coach Davis, herself a 2008 WCHS grad and former track standout for the Tigers. “They all have different goals and aspirations leaving WCHS and I know each of them will be successful in their future endeavors. I couldn’t be more proud as a coach and more thankful to have such a strong group of ladies to help leads my first year as head coach for the Lady Tigers.”
Warsaw will aim for its 13th straight NLC championship next Tuesday night at the NLC Meet at Goshen.
