Gene A. Ranstead
Gene A. Ranstead, 95, Wabash, passed away at 12:07 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2018, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. He was born in Breman, to the late Forrest and Gladys (Martin) Ranstead on Sept. 10, 1922.
Ranstead was a 1940 graduate of Silver Lake High School. He married Marcille L. Beigh April 12, 1941; she passed away on May 10, 2014. He retired from Honeywell, Inc. in 1979. He was a member of the Peoria Church in Miami County, the Hanna Masonic Lodge #61, Mizpahs Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne, Wabash Shriners, Wabash Eagles Lodge and The Wabash Isaak Walton League. He was an avid fisherman.
Gene Ranstead is survived by daughter, Sharon (Larry) Tucker, Wabash; eight grandchildren: Lynn Proebstle, Lagro; Julia (Joel) Thurman, Noblesville; Cynthia McDonald (David Burns), Wabash; Matthew Christman (Kim), Markle; Angela (James) Perez, Peru; Melinda Hults, Peru; Mark Hults (Dena), Wabash; and Christopher Hults (Alisha), Peru; and 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Valena Beigh, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip, daughter, Shirley Mills, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 4, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, IN 46992, with Pastor Brian Daniels officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, May 3, at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m.
