Fort Wayne Man Facing Drug Charges After Driving Through Intersection, Striking Trees
KOSCIUSKO — A Fort Wayne man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after being involved in an accident.
Antonio Amah Lee Brown, 22, 8531 Valencia Place, Fort Wayne, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; dealing in a synthetic drug look-alike substance in an amount in excess of 5 grams, a level 6 felony, possession of a synthetic drug or synthetic drug look-alike substance, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on April 6, an officer with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources observed a vehicle approach the intersection of CR 1000E and CR 750N in Kosciusko County at a high rate of speed. The vehicle drove through the intersection and into some trees, causing damage to the vehicle.
When the officer approached the vehicle he identified both the driver, Brown, and a male passenger. There was an active warrant out for the male passenger, and both Brown and the other male had suspended driver’s licenses.
The officer observed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Brown advised there could be pieces of marijuana on the floor of the vehicle.
Upon searching the vehicle, the officer located a backpack with a container of a green, leafy substance which was identified as a synthetic drug or synthetic drug look-alike substance and weighed 116.7 grams. The officer also discovered a powder substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 1.6 grams as well as a cigarette that contained a plant material and field-tested positive for marijuana.
The officer found a glass smoking device, several clear plastic bags, scale, cash and three pills identified as Clonazepam, a schedule IV controlled substance.
Brown was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail April 6 on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
