NorthWood Baseball: Panthers Paste Jimmies
ELKHART – The NorthWood baseball team singled out Jimtown for its latest win Thursday night.
The surging Panthers, playing for the fourth straight night, piled up 15 singles in downing the host Jimmies 13-2 in five innings in non-conference play.
NorthWood scored three runs in the second frame and added a six-spot in the third inning. The Panthers put the game away by the 10-run rule with four more tallies in the fourth frame.
Freshman Nate Newcomer made his first varsity pitching appearance one to remember. He threw a complete game, allowing eight hits and just one earned run with one walk for his first varsity victory.
Sawyer Warren led a balanced offensive attack with three hits and three RBI for NorthWood, which improved to 10-1 on the season.
Brant Mast and Trey Allman each had three hits and two RBI for the Panthers. Matt Dutkowski had two hits and scored four runs.
NorthWood plays at conference foe Plymouth Friday night. The Panthers are unbeaten in league play at 4-0. NorthWood then plays at Bremen Saturday at 11 a.m.
