Valley Sports Wrap: April 24
Boys golf
Tippecanoe Valley’s boys golf team earned a comfortable 210-311 victory over Culver Community Tuesday evening.
Cade Brouyette fired an even-par 36 to lead the field. Carter Kistler and Bryce Madeford carded a pair of 57s, and Corey Fincher’s 60 completed the Vikings’ score. Billy Gillman turned in a 77.
Culver was led by Dakota Bennett’s 68.
Girls tennis
Tippecanoe Valley’s girls tennis team fell 4-1 to Three Rivers Conference foe Peru Tuesday.
Lea Stouder earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Sophia Wheeler at 3 singles in Valley’s only win of the evening. Makenna Bradley took two games from Julia Weeks in a loss at 2 singles, and the rest of the Lady Vikings’ lineup was shut out.
Hannah Parsons, Haley Baker and Makenzie Fear all collected wins for Valley’s JV.
Baseball
Valley baseball managed just seven base runners in a 7-1 loss to host Culver Military Academy Tuesday.
Wes Melanson scored the Vikings their only run in the fourth. Adam Myers finished with three of the Vikings’ five hits and drove Melanson in as the visitors cut into a 3-0 CMA lead before a four-run bottom half of the fourth broke it open.
Layne Prater took the loss on the mound, giving up 10 hits and a walk for six earned run lasting three innings. Tucker Shull relieved him in the fourth and stopped the bleeding giving up just two hits and two walks for a run while striking out four over the remaining three innings.
Nathan Lukac went 3 for 3 at the dish with an RBI for CMA, and Matt Regan, Hayden Schott, and Will Levan tallied two hits apiece for the Eagles. Kyle Dane got the start and the win, scattering four hits with two walks and four strikeouts for one run going six innings.
Valley travels to Three Rivers Conference foe Northfield tonight.
Middle school golf
The Tippecanoe Valley Middle School coed golf team came in third at a three-team match with Northfield and Southwood Tuesday night, dropping its season record to 1-2. The Vikings shot 260 to Southwood’s 230 and Northfield’s 234.
The TVMS girls’ team was the only team to post a girl’s score on the evening, running its record up to 3-0.
Greg Miller led the boys with a 51, and Molly Moriarty led the girls with a 59. Noah England shot 61, Madelyn Weaver shot 62, and Cheney Canada and Gavin Grossman both carded 77 for Valley.
