Triton Sports Wrap: April 24
Girls tennis
Triton’s girls tennis team remained unblemished with a sweep of host LaVille Tuesday.
Emma Ross and Hannah Wanemacher made short work of Sydney Han and Emily Cain at 1 doubles, 0-0, while Megan McFarland and Emma Hepler surrendered just one game to LaVille’s Haylea Girst and Cassie Keilwan in a 1-0 affair at 2 doubs, and Kolbie Mason did the same to Rachel Ross in a 1-0 win at 1 singles.
Molly McFarland finished Charlet Kapke 3 and 3 at 2 singles, and Haley Hooley topped Taylor Garrett 3 and 2 at 3 singles as the Lady Trojans moved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.
Triton’s JV also won, 2-1.
The Trojans are back in action at the Concord Invitational Saturday.
Baseball
LaVille collected 10 hits and capitalized on five Triton errors, and the Trojans fell to their visiting Hoosier North rivals, 9-0 Tuesday.
Keegan Mosier tallied three of Triton’s hits, and Max Slusser finished with two.
Ryan Kaufman took the loss going the distance, giving up nine runs but only three earned. He struck out four and walked just one.
Devon Schoff got the win for LaVille, giving up four hits with one walk while fanning five in six innings of work. Isaiah Herbster led the Lancers at the plate, going 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Reese Gallup scored three runs.
The Lancers move to 7-1-1 with a perfect 4-0 HNAC mark. Triton drops to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference. The Trojans finish the series at LaVille on Thursday.
