Girls Tennis
Wawasee stepped back into Northern Lakes Conference play Tuesday and found the going tough in a 4-1 loss to Northridge.
Kabrea Rostochak returned to the lineup for Wawasee after time off for the Super Mileage school trip in California, and helped the No. 1 doubles team to its only win. Teamed with Courtney Larson, the duo beat Kylee Bontrager and Carlee Schroeder 6-3, 6-3.

Victoria Oakes beat Elizabeth Kleopfer one and three at No. 2 singles, Sarah Hartman blanked Kennedy Church at No. 3 and at No. 2 doubles, Brynne Gaylor and Peyton Kieper shut down Molly Jones and Brianna Haessig one and two.
Northridge stormed through the JV matches, winning 8-1. Wawasee’s lone triumph came from the doubles combo of Ava Harker and Abby Morehead, who beat Grace Devel and Nicole Miller 6-0. Kaitlin Graber had a three-set match in a 6-3, 6-6 (9-7), 6-1 contest with Cassidy Overholt, Ridge coming out on top.
Wawasee drops to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the NLC. Wawasee will try to rebound Wednesday at Concord.
Baseball
Wawasee continued to score runs in bunches, plating 12 runs in the second and seven more in the third to crush Bethany Christian, 19-2, at Wawasee.
Bethany actually led the game 2-0 in the first, getting runs home on an error and RBI single from Anthony Moser. But it was all Wawasee from there, going to work in the second. Every Warrior in the lineup scored in the inning, and did so without big blasts. Wawasee used six walks, four Bethany errors, four singles and a hit-by-pitch to get the 12 runs. Among the mania were two-run singles from Josh Slabaugh and Jacob Garcia and an RBI single from Blaine Greer.
The seven-run third was more of the same, Wawasee coaxing four walks, two hits, a hit-by-pitch and three more Bruin errors. Grahm Reinhard added his first RBI of the season on a single in the frame. Wawasee had just eight hits on the night while the Bruins committed nine errors.
Garcia picked up the win, striking out four in three innings. In a cruel twist of fate, Jacob Plank took the loss for Bethany, giving up 12 runs, but only one was earned.
Wawasee (6-4) will host Plymouth Wednesday afternoon.
