Warsaw Sports Wrap: April 23
Girls Tennis
The Warsaw girls tennis team ran into a buzzsaw Monday night.
Carroll, ranked No. 4, rolled past the Tigers by a 5-0 final in non-conference action.
The host Chargers won all five matches in straight sets to hand Warsaw’s its second loss of the season.
Sydney Jackson topped Liza Lewis 6-1, 6-2 on the No. 1 singles court to pace Carroll.
Kathleen Van Wyngfarden posted a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ella Knight at No. 2 singles for the Chargers. Bailey Newman completed the sweep by downing Alyssa Zellers 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles action.
Lauren Van Wyngarden and Mia Tascos defeated Taylor Shoaf and Rachel Boyle 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles play. The Carroll No. 2 doubles team of Katie Beier and Maria Casiano stopped Reagan Merchant and Rachel Yeager 6-2, 6-1.
Warsaw drops to 5-2 on the season.
Carroll won the junior varsity action 8-4. Winning for the JV Tigers were the doubles teams of Libby Jenkins and Amy Herendeen, Olivia Reiner and Paige Zawadski, Annie Burnett and Kat Josellis and Maddie Ray and Anna Grill.
Warsaw plays at Elkhart Memorial Tuesday evening and hosts Wawasee Thursday in NLC action. The Tigers are 2-0 in NLC play.
Lakeview Track
The Lakeview Middle School track teams went 1-3 in action versus Plymouth.
The Lakeview 7th grade boys team picked up the lone win with a 75-34 decision.
Plymouth won the 8th grade boys meet 57-52 and took both of the girls’ meets, winning 59-46 in 7th grade action and 75-34 in 8th grade competition.
Mikayla Mimnaugh turrned in the performance of the night for Lakeview. She broke her own school record in winning the 200 hurdle race in the 7th grade meet with a time of 33.65.
