Milford Public Library Announces Upcoming Events
MILFORD — The Milford Public Library will hold the following events in April and May.
Free Comic Book Day
Individuals 18 and younger are invited to come to the Milford Public Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5 to claim their free comic book. The library will have many kinds available. One comic book per person. No library card or registration needed. If you have questions, please call (574) 658-4312.
Story Time Trains
Children attending Story Time at 10:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 or at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3 will hear several fun stories about trains. During Story Time, children will create a cool paper train and eat a train snack. Children will also have the opportunity to play with a jumbo blocks train set in the children’s department all week long.
Children’s Book Week
Children will have the opportunity to win a stuffed animal and a book during Children’s Book Week from April 30 to May 5. This May marks the 99th anniversary of Children’s Book Week, a national celebration of books for youth. This year’s theme is “One World, Many Stories.”
Each day of the week, children can stop by the children’s circulation desk to fill out a drawing slip with their name and phone number. Children can enter even if they don’t have a library card. Winners will be drawn at the end of the week.
Check Out New Young Adult Graphic Novels At The Library
You’ll never run out of new graphic novels to read at Milford Public Library. If you love superheroes, you’ll love Marvel’s The Vision by Tom King and Gabriel Hernandez Walta. Fans of Batman will enjoy Scott Snyder’s newest editions, Volume 8: Superheavy, Volume 9: Bloom, and Volume 10: Epilogue.
New graphic novels about Deadpool, written by Gerry Duggan, include Deadpool vs. Sabretooth, Patience: Zero, and The Ones with Deadpool.
Those who love adventurous stories will enjoy tales about troublemaker Delilah in Delilah Dirk and the King’s Shilling by Tony Cliff.
Young adults are sure to love the Lumberjanes series by Shannon Watters. These graphic novels mix feminism and fun as teens have adventures at camp. The three latest installments in the series are Sink or Swim, A Bird’s Eye View, and Stone Cold, all available to check out now.
