Lake City Animal Health And Wellness Center Holds Ribbon Cutting At New Facility
WARSAW — The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at Lake City Animal Health & Wellness Center on Friday, April 13. The ribbon cutting took place at the new facility, located near the airport, at the corner of CR 100E and CR 300N in Warsaw.
Lake City Animal Health & Wellness Center is a full service medical and surgical veterinary hospital. The new facility is approximately four times the size of their former building on Winona Avenue.
The new facility features cage-free boarding, with suites for dogs and condos for cats. The suites include televisions and music. There are separate waiting rooms and exam rooms for cats and dogs. Lake City Animal Health & Wellness Center also offers training and grooming services.
Carla Carlton, DVM, received her degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University. She began her career in Texas at a 24-hour care hospital, then relocated to Indianapolis in 1997 where he continued working as an emergency veterinarian. In 1998 she began splitting her time between her job in Indianapolis and Lake City Animal Clinic in Warsaw. In 2007 Carlton purchased Lake City Animal Clinic from Dr. Hann.
Carlton said they officially opened the doors and began serving clients at their new location on Monday, March 19. She described the transition as having its ups and downs.
“It’s like moving into a new home,” said Carlton, “But everyone pitched in and I think it went as smoothly as it could.”
The space at the new facility is shared with Underground Hound, which offers pet grooming services. “It’s been a nice marriage,” Carlton stated. “We’re separate businesses, but we work well together.”
According to Carlton, feedback from clients has all been positive.
“The dogs are much happier,” Carlton said. “We’ve seen a big difference in some of our boarders that come in on a routine basis. They love it and that makes us really happy.”
An official open house will be held the evening of June 15.
