Hoosier Altman Is Youngest Person Running For Senate
INDIANAPOLIS — A crowded field for Indiana’s Senate election is getting even bigger with the announcement of a new independent candidate, the youngest person in America running for Senate.
It’s not intimidating 30-year-old Nathan Altman, the young entrepreneur who created the Speakeasy and Developertown in Indianapolis.
Altman took Eyewitness News on a guided tour of his Broad Ripple business.
“This is the Speakeasy, we have been working out of here on the launch. We’ve got a few of our crew on the top level here who are working on the website,” Altman said. “We’ve got these small little houses that are the offices.”
He graduated from Purdue with a degree in Building and Construction Management and now wants to work toward an advanced degree in politics.
Altman said starting at the top suits him.
“If you look at my past you will see I have done a lot of that. I’ve taken big strides. Most people would say the same thing about starting this company right out of college, starting a company before I could drive a truck. That is in my nature,” Altman said.
He will be running a grassroots campaign that will need to raise money and signatures to get on the ballot.
“I just don’t like the discourse, the way we are not communicating well. We are wanting to yell and not focus on solutions. This is the best use of my time right now, to attack problems,” he stated.
