David Lee ‘Buck’ Burns — UPDATED
David Lee “Buck” Burns, 79, Leesburg, passed away at 9:12 a.m., April 15, 2018, at Goshen Hospital in Goshen. He was born on Dec. 15, 1938, in Warsaw to George David and Florence Ellen (Strieby) Burns.
He attended North Webster High School and was a lifetime area resident. He was married on June 22, 1956, in North Webster to Betty J. Keim, who survives. He retired in 2004 from Da-Lite Screen Company in Warsaw after 22 years as a tool and die maker.
He was a member of the Church of God in North Webster, Sons of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster where he served as chaplain, and life member of the North Webster Volunteer Fire. He was formerly a “Special Officer” of the North Webster Police Department.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Debra J. Anderson, Leesburg; two sons: Jerry L. (Julia) Burns, North Webster; Jeffrey D. (Darlene) Burns, Monroe, Ga.; six grandchildren: Andrea (Ed) Klinger, Heather (Derek) Cripe, Todd (Kelsey) Burns, Brooke Burns, Ashlie (Jared) Smith and Christopher Miller; four great grandchildren; and a brother, Floyd “Chuck” Burns, Elgin, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Phillip Burns; and a sister, Patricia Burns.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N SR 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Memorial services will follow at 6p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating. Private family burial will take place in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery at a later date.
