WARSAW — Since December of 2017, the farm board for Kosciusko County Farm Bureau has donated approximately 4,000 pounds of chicken to Combined Community Services for their food pantry.
“On behalf of the county board, we were more than happy to do this,” said Kosciusko County Farm Bureau President Bob Bishop. “We appreciate what you do for this community.”
According to CCS Director Steve Possell, local farmers give thousands of dollars and thousands of pounds of food to CCS each year.
“It’s like all the farmers come together to help us out,” Possell said. He reported that Midwest Poultry donates around 400 dozen eggs a month.
“We actually had some emergencies come up with some veteran families that needed help around Christmas time,” Possell said. “We were almost completely able to supply them with what we got from Farm Bureau, Miller Poultry and Maple Leaf Farms.”
“No child should ever go hungry in an agricultural community like Kosciusko County,” said Bishop.
